Take Over Control Of Your Spiritual Destiny

Children are being persecuted in Africa in general, and in Nigeria in particular after being accused of being a witch. The fourteen year old in the photo is not an isolated case. They need to be saved urgently.

The theme was hidden in my blog titled POSSESSING SPIRIT OF GENIUS A CURSE? The spiritual capabilities of some children aged one to five make parents to fear them and condemn them as being the harbinger of a curse. They make attempts to exorcise the spirit out of them or murder them.

Those of age four or five to fifteen or so are named “witch/wizard”. They are subjected to torture and trial by ordeal to confess. When this fails, they are murdered or abandoned at shrines, churches, remand homes, mental asylums, road junctions, or bush. These could include geniuses or exceptionally gifted children in Extrasensory perception (ESP).

The term wizard has a dual meaning universally that can either be (i) a male witch: a man who has magical or wonder-working powers, or (ii) somebody who is excellent at something: somebody who is extremely clever at or knowledgeable about something. These are the meanings of the word azen in my language that is the Bini language spoken by the Benins of southern Nigeria. You would find similarities in other African languages.

For the reasons that I gave in my book TAKE OVER CONTROL (TOC), people in Africa, have come to associate the craft or capability with the first meaning in the sense of the person being “magical or EVIL wonder-working powers.

This blog is not about witchcraft or wizardry. It really does not matter what the witch maybe or not be capable of, but a five year old! They try to force a child to confess that he/she is a witch. The adults would go to any extent including scalding the little palm with hot pressing iron. The father of the teenager in the picture first wanted her to drink sulfuric acid (used in batteries). When she refused, the father poured it on her! (This was published in the Vanguard Newspaper of Tuesday 30th 2010 p 34 titled, MY FATHER BATHED ME WITH ACID FOR NOT CONFESSING TO BEING A WITCH.

Witchcraft is never discussed in public for fear of witchcraft. Yet the non-witch is the exception in our communities. (See EPISTEME in TOC) My uncle jokingly say that if one were to remove all the witches in a church, mosque, or shrine, only the bells, gong, or mats would remain.

Many would dispute this because calling someone a witch is life threatening. By analogy, we are all born into this world as a consequence of sexual intercourse. Sexual intercourse is natural and permissible unless it is “ILLICIT”. Some religions even prescribe death sentence for those who commit the illicit act as adultery or fornication. Others may be disparagingly called prostitutes. Would you kill little children for fooling around with the opposite gender? Or sentence them to be remanded in remand home or ostracized? That would not only be cruel it would be atavistic.

Many WITCHDOCTORS, pastors, prophets, imams, etc. boast that they possess the very power for which the children are being persecuted. Illicit witchery would be a crime punishable by death (burning at the stake once). Accusing people of witchcraft was encoded by out colonial masters as a crime punishable under criminal justice. Killing or torturing them did not even arise. It is against the laws in the statue books to accuse anyone of being a witch. Yet the “Child-Witches” are found in government owned remand homes everywhere. These are children reported to the authorities, tried and sentenced according to a law that is otherwise not known to any lawyer or magistrate.

My attention was attracted recently by a news report in one of our Government owned television stations to this effect. The issue was not the main purpose of the report that was on the remand home. The reporter only included it in the list of the children/youths in the remand home in passing. Coincidentally, the Vanguard carried an article that focused on it with a week or so.

The Newspaper reports that these are “. . . children between the ages of five to fifteen being accuses of belonging to SECRET CULT (my emphasis). They are made to suffer untold brutality in the hands of the family or in the hands of someone who claims to have the powers to remove the magic in the children. Sometimes the family would conspire and secretly kill the child and nobody would hear anything about it. . . .Orphans and children with one parent alive are the worst victims. . . .So they bring the prayer people . . . usually at an agreed price per child. Sometimes the children are taken away. We do not know what usually happen to some of te children, whether they ever return or not.” (Based on interview with Representative of an NGO.)

I shall show in part II that the real cause of adults persecuting these kids in not in what they do as such but for some other reason that are not x-rayed in public.
